Protective clothing is understood to be that which replaces or covers personal clothing, and which is designed to provide protection against one or more dangers, basically: Injuries to the body due to external aggressions. Health risks or discomforts associated with the use of protective clothing.
In 1986 the European Union, Directive 89/686 / EEC of the Governing Council of 11-30-1989, establishes the minimum safety and health provisions for the use by workers of personal protective equipment at work. For the purposes of said Directive, individual protective equipment (PPE) is understood to be any equipment intended to be worn or held by the worker to protect him from one or more risks that may threaten his safety or health at work, as well as any complement or accessory intended for this purpose.
While Royal Decree 773/1997 of May 30, on minimum health and safety provisions relating to the use by workers of personal protective equipment, defines individual protective equipment as “any equipment intended to be carried or held by the worker to protect him from one or more risks that may threaten his safety or health, as well as any complement or accessory intended for this purpose ", excluding the following equipment:
work clothes and uniforms that are not specifically intended to protect health or safety.
those of the rescue and rescue services.
those of the military, police and law enforcement services.
those of the means of transport by road.
sports equipment.
self-defense or deterrent material.
portable devices for the detection and signaling of risks and nuisance factors.
