Mediterranean, western Asia (Persia and Afghanistan, northwestern India) to the Himalayas.
Etymology
From the Latin “punicus”, Carthaginian, Plinio named this species “malum punicum”, apple of Carthage, with the wrong base regarding its origin. * Observations: The shape and measurements of the bonsai are approximate.
Situation
In areas with a Mediterranean climate it can be located outside all year round. In colder areas it is convenient to protect it in winter, especially from frost.
Irrigation
Irrigation, as for all deciduous trees, should be abundant in summer and reduced in winter.
Transplant
It should be done every two years in spring.

Pruning should be done at the beginning of spring bud break.
GRIPPING
The pinching throughout the spring, we pinch one or two pairs of leaves when the bud has lengthened 6 or 8 pairs of leaves. We will not clamp after May or June since we would eliminate the flowers, which appear at the tips of the branches.
