TRANSPLANT

Keep in mind that the olive tree is a tree that grows very slowly; thus, its root mass also develops little by little. If the subscriber and the substrate are adequate, the tree will not need to be transplanted until after about 3 or even 5 years.

SUBSTRATUM

TERRABONSAI substrate from Mistral Bonsai. After transplanting it is advisable to water with a solution of VITABONSAI from Mistral Bonsai, to accelerate the recovery of the tree.

From April to October, when the shoot has 7 to 8 pairs of leaves, pinch 2 or 3 pairs of leaves.

It can be done throughout the year.

Situation: In an area with a Mediterranean climate, outside, in full sun all year round. Outside of its natural climatic zone, it is convenient to protect it from extreme cold and especially from frost (temperatures below zero for more than 24 hours). Despite this, during winter it requires a sharp drop in temperatures between 5 and 7 ºC.

Irrigation: The olive tree has a minimum water consumption.

Curiosities: Traditionally considered the symbol of peace, the olive tree was also the emblem of victory and chastity. In ancient Rome both newlyweds and the deceased wore olive crowns. It was the insignia of the victorious warriors and the prize of the victors in the Olympic Games. An olive tree damaged by lightning was a harbinger of a breakdown of the peace.
