Evergreen shrub up to 5 m tall. Alternate and compound leaves of 4 to 10 leaflets. It is a dioecious plant (male flowers separated from the female ones). The fruits are red globose drupes up to 4 mm in diameter.

Etymology
Pistacia in Persian, "pistah" is the name of the pistachio; "Lentiscus", the popular name of the plant.

Akadama 100% or mixed with volcanic clay (30% clay). It is an undemanding plant in terms of the substrate.

Structural pruning can be done in winter, or during the growing season. Heal wounds.
GRIPPING
They are used to clamping leaflets instead of leaves. In the case of large trees, whole leaves can be clipped once they are well developed.

The resins of this plant are used in cosmetics. Another species of this same genus is the popular pistachio tree.
