If in addition to upholstering your chairs you want to change the color of the wooden structure, you just have to have the necessary elements and pay attention to the step by step of each process.
Are you ready? To start!
Upholster your chairs
Necessary elements:
• Fabric to cover the seat
• Screwdriver
• Small pliers
• Stapler
• Scissors
• Tape measures
• Thick foam rubber
• TNT fabric
• Fabric of fine texture preferably black (optional)
• Upholstery glue.
Step by step
Disassemble the base of the chair by removing the screws that are below. Remove the old fabric, extracting the staples with the help of a small pliers.
If the foam rubber is damaged, replace it with a new one (previously take the corresponding measures) and glue it to the wooden base. Let dry
Cut the TNT fabric of the same size as the seat, on it support the base with the foam rubber on which glue was previously placed. Try to stretch the fabric well before it sticks completely, so that it is perfectly smooth. Let dry.
Cut the fabric you chose to upholster, but beware, here it is necessary that the edges measure 5 cm more to be able to fold it and have a neat finish.
On a smooth surface spread the fabric. In the middle of it place the seat upside down (bottom facing up). Then do the following movement: stretch, fold, staple; everything smoothly, observing that there are no imperfections. Staple one end first, make the fold to the left (otherwise it will be messy) then repeat the same with the opposite vertex and when the ends are well stapled, continue with the edges. Always stretching and stapling. Cut off excess fabric
DETAIL: If you are a meticulous person, you can use a fine black cloth whose measurement is a little larger than the base (3cm more margin) Once the work is finished, support it on the base to cover the wood, fold all its edges (it gives a nicer look) and lastly, staples.
Paint the wooden chairs
Necessary elements
• Sandpaper
• Primer
• Brush
• Acrylic paint of the desired color
Step by step
Sand the wood well, so the paint will adhere without problems.
Clean by removing the remains of dust
Apply the primer. Let dry
Give the first coat of paint and let it dry
Sand again, this time gently, so as not to remove the paint.
Repaint. Repeat the sequence (sand-paint) if necessary
DETAIL If you want to get an innovative style, you can use two different colors. To do this, do not forget to cover the part that you will paint last, with thick tape
It has been beautiful!, and most importantly: you have given the work your own imprint
