Home Remedies to Protect Yourself From Mosquitoes

July 16, 2019

Summer brings with it the appearance of annoying mosquitoes that cause so many headaches with their bites. Although it is easy to find a good number of insect repellents on the market, today's brycus advice is based on detecting the most effective and inexpensive home remedies that carry the least risk to health.

Mosquitoes are attracted by the body odour and carbon dioxide that people give off when they breathe. These insects also often act depending on the colors of clothing or the person's own characteristics such as metabolism or blood group. To avoid the annoying consequences of a mosquito bite, it is necessary to use several protective resources.

The most popular and effective natural repellents

Citronella is one of the most used remedies in recent times to protect against mosquito bites. It is a grass that can be planted in any garden and in contact with the sun gives off an oil that repels insects. Citronella essential oil is used as an antiseptic, antibacterial, insecticide, fungicide or herbicide. It is very easy to find in the market several products for the environment that contain citronella and avoid the presence of mosquitoes, being the most popular candles, incense or sprays.

Lemon and cloves are two natural ingredients that give off a pleasant smell for humans and yet repel insects effectively. These two products are very economical and easy to find in any store or supermarket. Only cut the lemons in half and place a few cloves inside the lemons. Citrus flavouring is very uncomfortable for mosquitoes, flies and other insects.

Lavender essential oil, Neem seed oil and soybean oil are natural products that are often used to protect against mosquitoes. These are elements that are not harmful to health, even some of them can be used as a body moisturizer.

Other common household products such as vinegar can also be used. The vinegar is mixed with water in a container that can then be placed next to the windows to prevent the passage of insects. Chamomile is often used for stomach upset, however, if mixed with water and used as an ointment on the skin, it can serve as a mosquito repellent.

Other Home Remedies to Repel Mosquitoes

An interesting brycus tip is to use various everyday utensils to protect yourself from mosquitoes. If transparent plastic bags filled with water are placed in the windows, insects are prevented from entering the home. With a plastic bottle cut in half and the top funnel-shaped, an effective mosquito trap can be created. Only water, sugar and yeast should be mixed inside the bottle, a combination that will attract these annoying insects inside the bottle.

Protection and prevention for people

In addition to using home remedies, it is important to prevent the appearance of uncomfortable insects such as mosquitoes or flies. Stagnant water or water found in open water glasses or bottles becomes a perfect place for mosquitoes to breed larvae.

Colonies and cosmetic products that are overly perfumed are elements that attract mosquitoes considerably. The same applies to lights, so it is always advisable to sleep with the light completely off.

Vitamin B, which can be found in foods such as lentils or almonds, should be increased, as it will create substances in the body that will eventually be very harmful to mosquitoes. You can also drink brewer's yeast or eat products such as onion and garlic, which give off a very unpleasant smell for mosquitoes.

In the event that the mosquitoes bite the person, it is recommended to use home remedies to reduce the effects related to itching and swelling. Green tea, cucumber or aloe vera help to soothe itching in a remarkable way.
