Basically there are two ways to get it:
Covering the gotelé
It is made using gotelé cover paste and is used when the walls have plastic paint, since it is hard and difficult to scrape. In addition, it is the cleanest and fastest method to say goodbye to the gotelé. In Brycus tips we explain the steps to follow:
Calculate the necessary pasta
You have to measure the walls you are going to cover to calculate the total m2. To do this, subtract the surface of windows and doors. Generally, 1 kg of pasta is needed for each m2. This way you will know how much product you need to buy. The paste has a thickness of about 3 mm. If you gotelé is deeper, you must perform the calculation to give two layers.
Protect the house
It is the way that everything is cleaner once you have finished. Simply put the furniture in the center and cover them with plastic. Also, put bodybuilder's tape on the edges of switches, windows, doors and skirting boards, as well as the connection of the wall with the ceiling.
Apply the product
Remove the product before you start. The mass is quite thick, so you may need a drill with stirring rod. Then apply it on the walls with the help of a roller. Perform horizontal, vertical and diagonal movements. It is advisable to make 2 x 2 m areas so that the paste does not dry out and there are not too many joints.
Eliminate and sand imperfections
Pass the trowel on the wall horizontally so that there are no binding edges. Do it when the pasta is still wet. When dry, sand the remaining imperfections and remove the resulting dust with the help of a clean cloth.
Seal and paint the wall
Use a primer to seal the wall correctly and then paint it the color you want. If you prefer, you can also choose a wallpaper. There is a wide range of designs available in the market among which you can choose.
Scraping the gotelé
This option is used when the paint on the wall is tempered, so it is not too hard to scrape. One of our Brycus tips is that before you start you make sure that the wall does not have serious imperfections, because they will be exposed when you finish.
Moisten the wall
Wet the gotelé with a water spray. We recommend you apply it in areas of 1 x 1 m. Just moisten the temper until it changes color. Avoid getting wet to form a paste.
Scrape the paint
Once it is moist enough, scrape the wall with a spatula about 5 cm wide. To do this, you should tilt it slightly and apply a firm upward movement. Go removing the paint from the entire wall, but being careful not to drive the spatula and leave marks. Take the time it takes.
