The first factor that may interest us is the price of the generator. And at that point the advantage is always for the gasoline engine, because it is a much cheaper engine than the diesel engine. This difference in price is mainly due to two factors that we will have to take into account.
Diesel engines support a greater effort, therefore, they must be more consistent and heavier than gasoline engines. On the other hand, diesel engines need gas treatment systems that are more complicated than petrol engines. Both factors make the product more expensive to manufacture and increase its price.
In reference to the type of fuel we are interested in two factors mainly, the price of the fuel and the safety of the same one. At present the price of diesel fuel is cheaper than petrol, so we are interested in the price of acquiring a diesel engine. On the other hand, diesel is less volatile than gasoline, which makes it a safer and more reliable fuel.

Today it is the diesel engine that has the lowest fuel consumption. Diesel engines are the ones that work with the highest pressure, therefore, they are also the ones that produce the highest vibration and therefore much more noise. Therefore, although the best option would be a priori the petrol engine, we will have to see the real noise depending on the suppression elements that each engine has.
