Carpentry with pallet

These are some of the most interesting pieces you can make. You will only need pallets and, of course, the right tools, which you will find in our hand tools and power tools sections.

Pallet lounger

A fantastic element to create with this material is a deckchair. The result can be spectacular, and the process is not that complicated. You just need to follow these steps:

• First of all, you will need three pallets. If possible, one should be longer than the other. You're going to lay on the long one, and the short one will serve as a back, so take measurements before you buy them. The third will be used to get some planks, so it can be one that you have left over from another project.

• Sand them thoroughly and varnish or paint them the color you like best.

• When assembling the base, we will choose the longest pallet and we will put some legs with leftover boards from another pallet. You can cut them with a handsaw or power saw. Of course, if you use two planks for each leg, these will be more resistant.

• Now we will place the backing. Remove the second board from the short pallet and use the remaining gap to fit it into the base. Now you just have to fix it.

• Finally, it will be to put a thin mattress of foam rubber. And now you have your new lounger!

Sofa

Making a sofa is one of the most common uses that this material usually has. To make yours, you will only need a few pallets. Sand them well, paint or varnish them, and line them up against the wall. Place two or three levels to adjust the height, and finish the job with a mattress to make the piece more comfortable. For the backrest, use some cushions.

Depending on the space you have, you can create an L layout. This will also allow you to turn your sofa into a wonderful chaise longue.

Coffee table

Can't find the perfect coffee table for you? So grab your tools and do it yourself! With pallet wood it is very simple, and you only need to do the following:

• Get at least two pallets. As always, take steps to make sure it suits your needs.

• Using loose planks from the second pallet, fill in the gaps on the first to create a functional board. You will need a hammer and nails.

• If you want, you can use more boards to put some legs on it and give it the height that suits you best. Another very practical option will be to put some wheels on it.

• Sandpaper the entire piece thoroughly, and give it the finish you like best. You can varnish it, but also paint it.

Shelves

Finally, the pallets can also be used to make a piece of furniture with shelves. If you do it the way we tell you, you'll need several pallets, a saw, and other tools, but it's worth the work.

The first thing will be to cut the pallets in half. Once this is done, it is advisable to sand them well to avoid splinters. Now we have to join both halves by the blocks that they have as a leg. That is, one half face up and the other face down. We can use nails and carpenter's glue. In this way, we will obtain an elongated piece with a hole in the middle. This will be the bookshelf.

Finally, all that remains is to stack the pieces and paint the whole. If we place them a little displaced, we will get a modern and unique piece of furniture.
