More information

Scientific name: Pinus halepensis

Common name: Aleppo pine, white pine Family: Pinaceae Origin: Mediterranean

It is a very typical species in the Iberian Peninsula, it is an evergreen bonsai called needle and it belongs to the coniferous family, it has grayish branches and bark.

MAINTENANCE OF THE BONSAI

Irrigation: Avoid waterlogging in this species. This pine is very resistant to drought due to its physiological characteristics, both due to the structure of the leaf and the root structure. This species of pine and in general the others usually form a symbiosis with mycorrhizae. This structure is a fungus that facilitates the absorption of nutrients. The excess of water and especially the puddling is detrimental to the survival of this species, with which the mycorrhiza can die and end up also dying the tree.
Subscriber: We will pay from spring to autumn. The suitable compost can be of organic or chemical type. We recommend organic fertilizer. We recommend that it would be better to use liquid fertilizers so as not to water excessively and thus not harm.
Transplantation: The most complicated thing is the transplant of a wild plant and transfer it to a pot. This process must be done very carefully, keeping roots young and trying not to lose the substrate or soil that surrounds the roots.
All parts that are dead or damaged must be removed. Replace the substrate with a new one, we will use rooting and thus a better reaction. We recommend that the substrate be with 20% volcanic gravel.
Pruning: Pruning is done in the coldest months of the year
Diseases: It is a bonsai very resistant to pests and diseases. You can be affected by the spider mite , which is a mite. The leaves lose color and weaken the tree. It is treated with acaricides. The aphid can affect you occasionally but is not usual. It is easily treated with a specific insecticide. Finally there are some varieties of fungus that can affect you. In this case we will treat with a systemic fungicide based on Fosetil-Al or some other with a similar effect. It is usually marketed as a coniferous fungicide or sometimes also for lawns.
As it is this type of plant, the age and size can vary and is approximate, the pot may change in shape or color and the photos are indicative .ORIGIN: CHINA

* Observations: The shape and measurements of the bonsai are approximate. The color and shape of the pot may vary from the one in the photo. Remember that a bonsai is a living being, that is why the images that appear are representative.
